WATER FOR EXAMS. The impact of Climate Change on my studies.

I am John Beri, a secondary school student in Shisong, North West Region of Cameroon. I just failed my second term examinations and I am afraid to tell my parents. I have not been having time to do my homework. Me and my two brothers have to fetch water half a kilometer away from the house every morning and evening. We need the water for bathing, cooking and laundry. The taps in the house ran dry after Christmas. That is why I did not have time to do my homework and to study. In the first term I passed my exams. I didn’t have to fetch water as the taps in the house were flowing. Last week our Geography teacher taught us about climate change and global warming. He said bush burning, deforestation and other activities add CO2 to the atmosphere; increasing the temperature of the earth. The dry season is already too hot for us. And the water sources dry up earlier. Planting more trees stabilize and purify the atmosphere. Let’s Stop burning, stop felling tree and plant more trees, so we will have more water and the taps will not run dry. If the taps flow, we could have more time to study instead of fetching water. We shall then succeed in our examinations and succeed in life!
