Hello, my name is Carlos André Dias. I am a student at EFA Dom Fragoso, where the seed house system is developed.
Its objective is to unite us with the community and also with the school, exchanging and storing seeds.
In practice, students take seeds from school to home and bring them from their communities to school. We try to work only with native seeds.
Obtaining the seeds is one of the difficulties and the germination process of some native seeds is short, complicating our reserve. The process for storing the seeds is to collect, dry and store them in bottles, identifying each one, placing labels to identify the date of storage, variety, popular name, scientific name and its origin.
The importance of the seed house for us is to preserve the diversity of local and native species, and to have its own autonomy, promoting the rescue and tradition of ancestral cultures of the backlands.
