My name is Yendé Rostand and I'm a student at the Youth Vocational Training Center (CFPJ*) in Baré. I'm doing computer maintenance. Today, I'm going to explain how to run a diagnostic test on a computer emitting a red light and beeps.
First of all, we must remember that the beeps coming from red LEDs are signals of machine failures related to the computer. In such a situation, the assessment is simple. So here, I have a hardware failure inside of my computer, notably the RAM. If possible, I use a screwdriver to disassemble my computer; however, other computers do not have screws. Diagnosing the issue here can be done in two possible ways.
First, if it's a computer with one or more RAM sticks, then I replace the stick with another one, making sure it's in good working order. Before reassembling the case, I turn on the computer. If there are no more beeps, I can close it now.
If, on the other hand, it's a computer with several RAM sticks on its motherboard and several RAMs on these sticks, most often four, then I proceed by process of elimination from the first RAM to the last until I find the defective one. I either remove the defective one, keeping the ones in good condition, or I simply replace it.
Finally, I turn on my machine, and no more red light or error beeps. This is how I run a diagnostic test on a computer emitting a red light and beeps.
